In addition, we work on the continuous improvement of the nutritional profile of our products, in line with the NAOS strategy (Nutrition, Physical Activity and Prevention of Obesity) of the Ministry of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare for the improvement of the composition of foods 2017 -2020. Reducing sugar, salt and fats in foods is among the specific objectives of this strategy that Congalsa adheres to.
And what is the consumer looking for today? Sustainable products, pleasant, convenient and adapted to their nutritional needs. Below, we detail some of the trends most demanded by the market and the solutions Congalsa offers for each one of them.
Veggie products
The consumption of vegan products increased by 27% in the last two years, according to the study The Green Revolution. More and more consumers of all ages avoid animal origin products, a diet identified by many as healthier. 64% of the veggie public is female and 15% of people between 18 and 24 years old chooser this diet.
If a catering establishment wants to open up to this audience and test the potential of conscious consumption, it is only a matter of incorporating a vegan alternative to its appetizers menu... and let people know.
Spring rolls and minirollitos
In Congalsa we produce spring rolls and mini spring rolls, two possibilities made with 100% vegetable ingredients.
Available for catering and households, they are a natural option and perfect to dipp in sweet and sour sauce. Our spring rolls with vegetables and mini spring rolls with shitake mushrooms are made in Spain with vegetables of the highest quality, without palm oil and with a thin and crunchy pastry absolutely delicious and different.
Convenience products
The rhythm of life and the working days, increasingly eating out of tupperware, have led costumers to prefer ready to eat dishes or those easely cooked in a few minutes. Healthy, and at the same time convenient, solutions are in fashion. Its sales grew by almost 10% in 2018, compared to the 3.7% increase recorded in the food sector as a whole, according to the consumers association analysis.
The fundamentals of Congalsa is precisely to respond to that demand. That's why all our solutions allow simple, quick preparations, with the same homemade taste and the best quality. Our growing range of suitable for oven bake products, responds to the need of preparing healthy and versatile products in a short time.
Gluten free and with guarantees
The celiac community increases. Although it is estimated that 1% of the population is gluten intolerant, 400,000 new cases are diagnosed each year in Spain. Additionally, according to the surveys of the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU), 10% avoids gluten because it believes it is a healthier option. Few days ago, on the occasion of the Intermational Day of Celiac Disease, associations of patients complained about the overpricing of these goods, but also how complex it is to find gluten-free dishes and with guarantees.
Congalsa knows well the risks of an intolerance or food allergy. That is why it has a range of products that are produced in an separated production plant to avoid cross contamination. Among these, we highlight gluten-free battered rings and calamar a la romana gluten free, crunchy and suitable for cooking in the oven or deep frying.
